Lagoon 40
The Lagoon 40 is a sailing catamaran of about twelve meters, designed by the French shipyard Lagoon to combine comfort, habitability, and ease of navigation. It is considered the model bridging smaller cruising catamarans and larger units in the same range, offering surprisingly spacious interiors for its length and good maneuverability even with a small crew. The hull lines are by VPLP Design, while the interiors and aesthetics are by Nauta Design. With an overall length of 12.75 meters and a beam of 6.76 meters, the Lagoon 40 offers excellent stability and generous interior volume, making it ideal for those seeking relaxation and comfort at sea. The cockpit is spacious and well protected, with ample seating and easy access to the aft platforms. The ergonomics of the helm station allow all maneuvers to be managed from a single point, and the self-tacking jib simplifies handling even with a small crew. Communication between the cockpit and the salon is smooth, thanks to a large sliding door that fully opens the living area, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Inside, natural light is one of the Lagoon 40’s distinctive features: large panoramic windows provide a 360-degree view and fill the spaces with daylight. Interiors are modern and functional, with light finishes and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Both configurations feature spacious, well-finished bathrooms with separate showers and adequate storage. The shallow draft of about 1.35 meters allows easy access to the coast or anchoring in shallow bays, making it particularly suitable for Mediterranean or Caribbean cruises. The Lagoon 40 stands out for its versatility: it offers the comfort of a large yacht in manageable dimensions, with lower operating costs than larger models. It is ideal for families, couples, or small groups who want to sail independently and enjoy the sea in total relaxation. Overall, the Lagoon 40 represents a successful combination of contemporary aesthetics, functionality, and comfort.
